Extended biography: Danny Meadows-Klue

Founder and CEO

Danny Meadows-KlueDanny has been a leading figure in the internet industry since 1995. Consistently ranked as one of the top fifty most influential leaders in the industry, he was the co-founder, then chairman and then the first CEO of the UK and European IABs. He has helped launch 20 internet trade associations around the world from Mexico to New Zealand, and is credited with devising plans to accelerate national markets. In 2000 he set up the Digital Strategy Consulting practice and later the Digital Training Academy which provides strategic management coaching for digital executives.

His digital media career began with United News and Media where he trained as a traditional newspaper and magazine publisher and began strategic planning research into future digital publishing channels. With United he worked for The Express, Exchange & Mart, Miller Freeman, and their regional titles. In 1995 he moved to The telegraph to become the first brand manager of the UK's first online newspaper, Telegraph.co.uk which he helped run for five years, launching numerous websites and stewarding the site to win Internet Newspaper of the Year every year he was publisher.

At the heart of the industry he has pioneered revenue maximization strategies, content management, and brand development to help build sustainable business models through understanding the relationship between customers, content and commerce. At the start of 2000 he joined NBC's Internet business - one of the world's top ten online companies at the time - as European Vice President for Content and Product. He has managed a range of online businesses including: e-retailers, portals, search services, email, media brands and agency design services.

He has been a driving force in the online industry, determined to achieve cohesion through trade initiatives as a way of accelerating the pace of the market and providing sting foundations for business. As well as chairing the UK and European IABs for more than four years, he has contributed to government policy and been a special ministerial advisor. In education he has helped launch university courses in e-commerce, e-publishing and e-marketing and continues lecturing in interactive media management and marketing. At the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing he helps run various Councils, chairs the e-marketing examinations board, and helps steward the Journal of Interactive Marketing through its editorial board. As an accomplished author, lecturer, broadcaster and commentator he is a familiar figure in the trade and national press, and broadcast media.

New Media Age acknowledged him as being the most influential person in the industry and he has been nominated three times for the lifetime contribution award for interactive media. In 1999 he was part of the team nominated for the first digital BAFTA and has been recognized by the government as one of the 100 founders of Britain's digital industry.

Away from the digital world, Danny is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, compulsive traveller, keen mountain-biker, and if the waters are warm enough, a master scuba instructor.
