IDM Agency Heads' Dinner | London

Where have we come from and where are we heading? 2008 is shaping up as the year of video, targeting and the battles of the portal giants. 2007 was the social media frenzy and the big wave of consolidation. In 2006 blogging went mainstream, and in 2005 online jolted to the centre of marketing attention. Only a year before had it slipped ahead of the size of the radio sector, marking a ‘coming of age’ of the medium. And only a decade before that did the first online newspapers and web media launched in the UK. In an incredibly short time, the new kid on the block has grown up and matured in a thousand ways.

Materials: Materials are restricted to participants.

So where are we heading, and how can you read the landscape? What’s in store over the next few years, and why are most firms wholeheartedly unprepared? The marketing industry hasn’t seen change on a scale and time-frame like this before. Many businesses feel like rabbits caught in the headlamps, media owners are in turmoil, and agencies are wrestling with how to profitably navigate such a rapidly changing space.

Digital marketing veteran Danny Meadows-Klue shares his thoughts about the futures for digital marketing. Meadows-Klue moved into digital media in 94 and was brought in by The Daily Telegraph in 95 to help grow the UK’s first online newspaper. He has taught internet media and marketing over a decade, and helped run portals, search engines, online stores and social media. He helped create the UK and European IABs and was their inaugural chief executive as well as their presidents many times over. He has advised governments, banks, FTSE 100 firms, and young entrepreneurs, and still makes time each week to coach the next generation of digital marketers. In 2000 he set up www.DigitalStrategyConsulting.com to help share his experiences and you can send your questions to him before this talk by emailing Danny@DigitalStrategyConsulting.com
