Microsoft has reported profits of $4.52bn (£2.96bn) for the last quarter, a 48% year-on-year increase.
According to the firm, profits were boosted by sales of its latest Windows 7 operating system. Microsoft has now sold 175m Windows 7 licences since its launch last year.

Total revenues rose 22% to reach $16.04bn (£10.4bn) with both the Bing search engine and the Xbox games console providing strong sales.
Annual profits to the end of June were up 29% on the previous year, rising to $18.76bn (£12.20bn).
Kevin Turner, Microsoft's COO said, "We saw strong sales execution across all of our businesses, particularly in the enterprise with Windows 7 and Office 2010. Our transition to cloud services is well underway with offerings like Windows Azure and our Business Productivity Online Services, and we look forward to continuing our product momentum this fall with the upcoming launches of Windows Phone 7 and Xbox Kinect."
