26/09/2013

Dance theatre Sadler’s Wells has called in social media consultancy Hot Cherry to launch and promote iD, a multimedia production from Cirque Éloize, featuring a set of YouTube videos giving the performers an urban twist.

Described by Cirque Éloize’s Director Jeannot Painchaud as “at the crossroads of comic books, science fiction movies and the rich universe of graffiti” iD blends circus arts and urban dance including b-boying, breakdance and hip hop. 15 multidisciplinary performers from around the world will display an array of breathtaking acrobatic circus disciplines, including the Cyr wheel, Chinese pole and aerial silks.

Hot Cherry will be responsible for social media consultancy and seed a range of video clips to promote the show including one which features a contortionist taking an alternative journey by tube.

Since 2001 Hot Cherry has promoted art projects for brands including Tate, Arts Council England, Southbank, BBC and Channel 4 - and will be responsible for creating a social media and online communications strategy to launch and promote Cirque Éloize’s new production.
Sebastian Cheswright, Sadler’s Wells’ Director of Marketing & Sales said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Hot Cherry again who have a great track record promoting arts in the UK. Their creative and innovative approach to connecting brands with consumers in a digital world really makes them stand out.”

Hot Cherry’s last social media campaign for Sadler’s Wells helped the renowned venue to attract a new, younger audience in launching Sampled, a pop-up London festival showcasing a wide range of dance styles, including hip hop, ballet and tango, as well as live music, interactive art installations and film.

Since 1993 Quebec-based Cirque Éloize has presented more than 3000 performances in over 375 cities and 30 countries - and is renowned for its dazzling shows which combine circus arts with music, dance and theatre.

Cirque Éloize’s iD runs from 1 Oct 2013 – 19 Oct 2013 at London’s Peacock Theatre.
