Love Island: Wes and Meg win online popularity contest

Love Island contestants Dani and Jack may appear to be fan favourites, but Wes and Megan are actually the most popular islanders when it comes to online page views, according to research from Taboola.

Taboola analysed millions of viewers' online habits during the show to see how the contestants rank based on what fans are reading about.

Stats show almost 30 million users read about ‘Wes’ online during the show, and over 22 million wanted to learn more about ‘Megan’. Yet ‘Dani’ and ‘Jack’ only piqued the interest of 18 and 16 million respectively. So could Wes and Megan be this year’s winning couple and claim the £50,000 prize?

The research from native advertising and content discovery specialist Taboola, found that Alex is the fifth most popular contestant based on what viewers are reading about online, almost pipping Jack to the post with just under 16m. Laura is sixth with just over 14m readers. While Josh and Kaz are decidedly last in line for the prize money – Josh only attracted the attention of 5m readers, while Kaz takes the bottom spot with just 1m.

Please see chart below detailing the full research results. The exclusive survey was conducted between June 4th (the date the show started) and 14 July, during the hours Love Island was shown on ITV2.
