UK online gambling searches hit by 'sharpest fall yet'

Brits spend £2.3 billion annually on online gambling according to research from Deloitte, commissioned by the Association of British Bookmakers (ABB). However, a new report from digital marketing agency, Greenlight, shows consumer online search volumes pertaining to sports betting, poker, bingo and casino, have suffered their sharpest drop yet.

Instagram's $1bn price tag makes sense for Facebook's 'buy' strategy because it blocked Twitter, Google, Apple or MSN from leaping ahead.

In cloud storage, the trend seems to be to 'build' your own: April saw Google unveil a cloud storage service to undercut Dropbox, SkyDrive and iCloud. Our money is on Dropbox getting bought soon, as late entrants realise 'buy' will be the only option left.

Meanwhile in digital marketing, the choices grew further:

- Needing new ad platforms? Tumblr finally opens up
- Approaches for tackling Pinterest? Amazon and eBay's social shopping tools just started pinning

Betfair lets brands build own betting communities with ‘App Cloud’

Betfair has launched App Cloud, a service that lets software developers build their own transactional betting websites and widgets off of Betfair’s sports exchange platform. As part of its official partnership with Betfair, Manchester United are the first to go live with an App Cloud based betting service, offering their fans visiting manutd.com the opportunity to register, login and bet seamlessly with the club’s tailor-made on-site betting product.

Betfair debuts Samsung TV betting app

Two Way Media has created an interactive TV application for BetfairTV, allowing users to place bets on current and upcoming football matches. The app runs on Samsung connected TV’s, and launches to coincide with the World Cup.

The application, developed by Two Way Media’s in house team, receives data live from Betfair’s Football Exchange where the markets and odds are constantly updated in line with the action on the pitch. Viewers can bet on individual matches or on the result of a whole competition; they can choose to bet on the winner, correct score, next goal or half time result. The application is part of a suite of games being developed by Two Way Media for Betfair.
