L’Oreal has pioneered the role of AI and AR in cosmetics, creating the Makeup Genius app that trailblazed a new digital approach to “try before you buy”. In a sector where product trial is constrained by the number of people able to get to beauty counters in stores and meet advisors, L’Oreal realised that digital channels could overcome the bottleneck.

Do digital content partnerships work? AOP reveals study results
The Association of Online Publishers (AOP) today revealed the results of a proprietary study into the value of premium content partnerships. Five bespoke partnerships were measured with media brands Haymarket, Guardian, Telegraph, and IPC and advertising brands LG, Majestic Wines, Boots, Disney and Lenor.

Mobile-ready websites ‘get 2 minutes more dwell time’
Dwell time is two minutes higher when brand sites are mobile-ready, but less than half of top UK brands have websites optimised for smartphones and tablets, according to a new study. The study proved how a significant percentage of the top 100 brands such as Tesco, B&Q and Boots are starting to sit up and listen, with nearly 40% now having a mobile-optimised website.

Top 50 online retailers in the UK
The London 2012 Ticket site has been the most popular new ecommerce site so far this year, while Tesco overtook Play to become the third most searched-for online retailer in the UK, according to new research from the IMRG and Experian Hitwise. The London 2012 Ticket site ranked 35 for May 2011 as UK internet users applied to see sporting events at next year's Olympic Games. Meanwhile, the fastest climbers year-on-year in the HOT 100 were National Express (up 23 places), Republic (+22), Bhs (+22), House of Fraser (+20), Boots (+18) and Sainsbury's (+17).
