Google search tool helps Leeds shoppers find stock instore

Commercial property firm Land Securities has launched a new Google search service for visitors to the White Rose shopping centre, Leeds. Debenhams, Topshop, Warehouse and Oasis are the first retailers to sign up to the scheme.

Fords runs reality TV series on Yahoo to promote Green Car

Ford is launching an online reality TV show in partnership with Yahoo in the US. The car maker will promote its Focus Electric model during an online reality program called “Plugged In.” The online program will begin in May, when Ford’s Focus Electric model will be available in some U.S. markets. It will be broadcast exclusively on Yahoo! Screen.

Are you being served - online? Most British firms ‘fail the online customer service test’

It’s official. Britain is worse than Lithuania when it comes to customer service, according to a survey of 2000 British firms and consumers. The survey, commissioned by live chat software provider Netop, found that today’s customers want to connect fast, and engage live with a human customer service representative at their bank, building society, retailer, grocer or indeed any other provider they use.

Brands are getting an average 46% more engagement with Facebook’s new Timeline profile, according to new research. But closer inspection indicates that status updates may actually be losing engagement. The study, from Simply Measured, drew its results from just 15 Facebook brand pages.

US: Paid search ad spend dips as big brands cut back

Both paid search and display advertising fell around 6% in the last quarter of 2011 in the US, as big advertisers tightened their belts. For the year, paid search dipped nearly 3% but display ads rose 5.5%, according to a new study. The findings, from research from Kantar Media, indicate that major US advertisers including Procter & Gamble, AT&T and General Motors significantly reduced their advertising spend last year.

The majority (91%) of customers that use a brand via a daily deal site such as Groupon have returned for more business, or are planning to do so, according to new research. Google+ share button appears on search results: SEO goes social

Google has added a Google+ share button and notification box on its home page and all search results, in a move that could dramatically change the way brands appear on its search results. Pressing on the + Share button reveals the Google+ post update box lets the user add links, pictures, and then choose who they share that information with. It means users will be able to share something immediately without having to go to the Google+ homepage.
