Zynga applies for gambling license in US

Zynga has applied to the Nevada Gambling Control Board as a first step towards preparing to offer gambling in the US for real money if new legislation comes through. Facebook debuts first ‘real money’ gambling app

Facebook has entered the world of online gambling with its first real-money bingo and slots app launched this week. The Jackpotjoy Bingo and Slots Friendzy app has been created by developer Gamesys and is open to players in the UK over the age of 18. The website's largest gaming partner, Zynga, said it also planned to introduce real-money gambling versions of its games next year.

Facebook relaxes gambling ad ban

Facebook has revised its advertising rules which will now allow gambling operators to advertise on the social network. The move will allow offline gambling establishments to advertise “provided the ads are appropriately targeted”. While the promotion of gambling in the US will still be excluded, advertising by online gambling operators aimed at residents in other countries will be allowed.

William Hill debuts Android app

Bookmaker William Hill has launched a brand new Android app for its mobile customers. The new application, which contains new features and enhanced graphics, will allow Android users to access over 40,000 pre match, in-play and speciality markets from William Hill Online on a daily basis.

In brief, it means android users can now place bets and manage their William Hill sportsbook account via their handset. The new app, which is quicker than the old version, is a recognition by the bookmaker that Android smartphones are becoming more popular with their customers.

Betfair debuts Samsung TV betting app

Two Way Media has created an interactive TV application for BetfairTV, allowing users to place bets on current and upcoming football matches. The app runs on Samsung connected TV’s, and launches to coincide with the World Cup.

The application, developed by Two Way Media’s in house team, receives data live from Betfair’s Football Exchange where the markets and odds are constantly updated in line with the action on the pitch. Viewers can bet on individual matches or on the result of a whole competition; they can choose to bet on the winner, correct score, next goal or half time result. The application is part of a suite of games being developed by Two Way Media for Betfair.
