StumbleUpon revamps iPhone and iPad app

Internet ‘discovery engine’ StumbleUpon, has updated it iOS app for iPhone and iPad users. The new app includes the new StumbleDNA; a colour bar that appears on every user’s profile page, providing a visual representation of each individual’s mix of interests on StumbleUpon. It also highlights trending content and activity from friends and Interest experts.

StumbleUpon debuts UK version of web discovery tool

StumbleUpon has launched its content discovery engine to the UK market, with a new website and mobile apps. Formed in Canada in 2001, StumbleUpon aims to ‘reinvent browsing’ letting users share and browse recommended sites. Key Stumbles can be shared via email, StumbleUpon, Facebook and Twitter.

Top 10 social networks in UK: MySpace drops out

MySpace has fallen out the UK's top ten most visited social networking sites for the first time ever, according to new research. The data, from Experian Hitwise, indicates that discovery engine Stumble Upon leapfrogged MySpace to claim tenth place based on web traffic data from November, pushing MySpace down to eleventh.

StumbleUpon revamps site to boost user engagement

Web discovery and social bookmarking tool StumbleUpon has revamped its site with a raft of new features. The move represents the largest and most comprehensive branding and redesign initiative StumbleUpon has made in the company’s history. The new look, alongside a few new choice features, is an effort to make the site learn toward intelligent curation of content and is a departure from the "roulette-wheel" method of random exploration.

eBay buys StumbleUpon for £35m

eBay has bought StumbleUpon for $75m (£38m) in cash, writes Netimperative. StumbleUpon recommends content, websites and other online information to its members based on votes from other users with similar interests. StumbleUpon currently has 2.3m registered users and receives 5m new recommendations for online content per day. According to analysts the site's peer recommendation system could be used to help eBay users find online auctions which match their interests.
