Google targets Welsh firms with workshop tour

Google has launched a year-long campaign aiming to encourage more Welsh businesses to get online, as figures show around 40% of small firms have no website. The internet giant said 33% of businesses in Wales have access to sell goods and services online compared to the UK average of 39%.

ICANN now accepting .wales and .cymru domain names

The Welsh government has said will not object to a bid for the right to use the '.wales' and '.cymru' domain names. The move will give people and buisnesses in wales the chance to use Wales and Cymru in their internet address names.

Wales becomes UK’s first digital TV nation

Wales has become the UK’s first digital TV nation today when the analogue signal is switched off for the final time. The Welsh switchover began last August and will conclude tomorrow with the Wenvoe transmitter group, which covers Cardiff, Newport and south east Wales. The first stage of the Wenvoe switchover process began earlier this month when analogue BBC Two was turned off and some new digital channels became available. The remaining analogue channels – BBC One, ITV1, Channel 4 and Five – have been switched to digital and the remaining digital channels will become available.
