Waterstones sells Amazon's Kindle book reader

The UK’s top bookseller Waterstones is to sell Amazon's Kindle book-reader and launch other Kindle digital services. Waterstones says the deal will be integrated with its current store refurbishment scheme, which is creating dedicated areas for digital books, free wireless internet and new coffee shops.

Internet killed the grammar star? Waterstone’s scraps apostrophe to boost search engine rankings

High street bookshop Waterstone's is dropping the apostrophe from its name to make it more "versatile" for online use. Managing director James Daunt said the amendment was a "more versatile and practical" spelling of the name for the digital world. The book shop has also reinstated the Baskerville serif font with a capital W, which Daunt said "reflects authority and confidence".

British Library criticised for linking to Amazon

The British Library has come under fire by booksellers for linking to Amazon on its public online catalogue. The catalogue lists more than 13 million of the library's items along with a link to buy the item from the online retailer. Waterstones said the library was "driving readers away from local libraries and high street bookshops".
