Here's a quick summary...

Our clients need high level thinking and fast implementation. We focus on getting the right strategy for their products, websites, online commerce ventures and digital marketing. We do it fast, and with almost all our energy (and their budget) going into the project team. We structured the business to have low overheads, and for us to be very hands on - that means our clients get the senior consultant's time and energy from the start.

The approach means normally working in teams of 4: the project director (and lead consultant), a research manager, project manager and a support consultant. We keep the teams light and the focus is on our lead consultants to develop the ideas and thinking as well as turning this into language that shows the client-side team what to do and how to do it. We're big on knowledge transfer and the aim of each client project is that their team should be able to deliver without our input. The central team provide all the back office support you'll need, along with access to other consultants and specialists to help develop ideas further.

For Associates the work is intense and diverse. The UK accounts for about a third of our business and the rest is spread from New Zealand to Latin America, China to the USA.

Many Associates also teach with us at the Digital Training Academy.

Our partners are looking for an animation production manager to run one of their new projects. It is so secretive at the moment they cannot even name it

Potentially it is a long term position and well remunerated. Candidates need to have some experience of contract work as we have to have all staff and freelancers etc under very tight secrecy.

So in summary: someone with experience in production managing/producing/directing animation (or sophisticated graphics/web projects/VFX), someone with very good taste (with a proven track record of production managing quality outcomes), someone very solid and dependable who is looking for a long term prospect in London. Creatively it should be a very satisfying role.

Competencies (Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Attitude)

It’s about managing the team of artists, so somebody basically upbeat, straightforward, good-humoured, communicative and energetic.

Good sense of detail

It’s about making lists of tasks and ticking them off in the right order. Also checking that other people have kept to the task list and schedule.

Good at time structure and working to a deadline

An interest in stories, drawing, animation, film-making (or at least one of these areas) will help build your understanding

Logistics: Coordinate logistics and local purchasing

Hospitality: Registering and welcoming delegates, arranging entertainments

PA: Provide typical PA support including - email management for directors, arranging conference calls, briefing third parties, liaising with managers in London and other cities

Events: Provide typical event support, including - room layout, feedback form collation, managing petty cash, deliveries, equipment purchasing, printing materials

Noting: Take notes in our working sessions and turn those notes into PowerPoint and Word docs Materials and record keeping: Timekeeping for session duration, noting changes to materials, collating changes

Translation: Some language translation may be needed in non-English speaking countries

You'll be energetic and enthusiastic and good with people. You'll also be familiar with the city and ideally have some experience in the advertising, media, marketing or internet industry. The role is a mix of classic PA work and more specific activities that relate to our training and development. You'll need excellent English, good typing skills advanced PowerPoint. And you'll be organising the diary and schedule of one of our directors, as well as being a contact point for our team in London and Singapore.

Working plan

As well as background administration work, about 4 days before each event your activities for this Digital Training Academy will really begin. They will run in a solid block of 7-10 days and may include weekends.
On training days you'll need to be on site from 7am - before training starts - and will be working late in the evening.

Working style

It's fast paced here at Digital, and your line managers will be working with you online. We create a balance over the duration of a project, but on one of our international Academies you may be working late and on weekends, and will need to be task focussed and comfortable in stressful environments.

Contracts and working terms

You'll be employed from London under an international consultancy contract. Payment will be direct to you and based on documentation we will assist you with.
A company email account will be set up for you here at Digital, and you will be working through our extranet using existing processes and structures. There would normally be 2-8 people working with you on your team for each Digital Training Academy.
As part of your engagement, you will need to be comfortable signing our non-disclosure agreements, and have a briefing on working practices, along with training in templates and documentation.

We have four places for interns to help out on various projects. You'll be based here at Digital’s office in Soho and working flexible hours. Placements are for a minimum of 12 weeks and involve assisting key members of our central team of 10. The internships cover general office administration support as well as sitting in on some of our Digital Training Academy classes if they are running. We aim to adjust the internships to meet the interests of our interns, so whether you're a budding web designer, a marketer in training, or simply looking for business experience in a stimulating environment, then get in touch.

Download job description

Rates and duration

Intern placements are normally 3-9 months, but we can be flexible for the right candidate. The working hours are based on a reduced week of 10am-4pm. For internships we offer a contribution of £20 a day to your expenses, plus Starbucks runs and an often unhealthy supply of chocolate.

About Us

We’re a digital consultancy and training business looking for enthusiastic interns to help us complete the expansion of our training programmes and strategy support for some of the UK’s leading web properties. Many of us have been in web publishing for more than a decade and it’s a chance for you to learn heaps about the industry as well as enjoying unique way in to a fascinating career area.

Your Role

As an intern you be responsible for supporting different members of the team here at digital in areas such as marketing, research and online publishing. This job description tells you about the sort of work we’d envisage you doing and shows you how to apply.

You’ll be supporting key team members in a young digital consultancy and training business

You’ll report to one of our project managers and work in several areas of our business

The work will be varied and project based, with some additional tasks that will depend on which role you apply for

A typical “week in the Digital life” of an intern could include googling up new research, racing around the West End to do the shopping for one of our events, collating the feedback from clients and people we’ve worked with and helping the guys here in our office

You’ll be part of a team of three working closely with one line manager

Your work will involve liaising with Associates and members of our team including freelancers and those working abroad

In terms of technologies you’re likely to be using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and a lot of web browsing – email is our main communication platform and we have a series of online publishing tools that we might teach you how to use

4 Intern Placements

• Office Management Internship

You’ll be assisting in the general administration of our company, gaining experience in finance, processes and general office management. We’re a small team in the main office, but highly efficient in the way we work. Most of our team will be on projects and working with clients directly so the support group here at Digital are vital in making that process smooth and easy.

• Research Internship

You’ll be working with our email publisher and materials manager, googling up material for research and preparing copy, data and charts for the websites and our training courses.

• Project Management Internship

Managing projects like the delivery of our strategies or training courses involves connecting together the teams, clients and third parties in ways that are efficient and clear. You’ll be playing a role on several key projects to collate documentation, research the client’s needs and get materials from our team into a final format for publication. This could include PowerPoint slides, Word documents, Insight Reports or the results of surveys we run as part of client projects. You’ll be working for our project managers.

• Marketing Internship

This is an additional intern role available this year for an intern to help with marketing and planning for special projects. We’ll offer this position to interns who have experience in marketing or a media degree and are ready for greater challenges. You’ll report to the senior directors and have more client-facing activities as part of this work.

Competencies (Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Attitude)

For internships we’re looking for bright people with an open and enthusiastic personality who are keen to learn more about digital marketing but already have a real interest in using the internet. You’ll need to be a good self-starter and have energy and enthusiasm. International languages can be useful because we work in around 20 countries.

Experience of using the web heavily

Good sense of humour

Excellent communication

You probably don’t take yourself too seriously, but you can be really focussed and determined when the team need your help. You’ll be passionate about the internet, happy to roll up your sleeves up and get stuck in, and comfortable working in an informal and often hectic environment.
