Tories taking the web by storm?
2/11/2009
We’re always on the end of political news releases, but having two from the Tory party in a week reminded us that this UK election is going to be fought more on the web than ever before. The parties might not be geared up to the same level as the Obama campaign was, but the web will still play a major role.
The Tories are clearly ahead with Spotify and doing well on SEO, but will any party really harness social media? Many local councilors have leapt to Twitter as a way of showing constituents what they’re doing, but we think much of this feels ham-fisted – using social media as a simple broadcast tool. As a Netimperative writer I’m interested in the things you’ve seen and whether they could form part of our news agenda for election coverage.
