Event report: The great ‘Twitter or Bitter’ debate 2009

25/09/2009

The best marketing tool since Google, or a faddish distraction for lazy marketers? This week, Netimperative hosted a lively debate looking into the pros and cons of Twitter, and watched the sparks- and tweets- fly. (Please note: No interns were harmed during the making of this report).

Digital Directors’ Dinner report and interview – Where E-tail is heading, and why…
21/09/09

Another excellent dinner with a fantastically provocative speaker. Ian's talk challenged the conventions, and got all of us thinking about what it meant for our businesses. Retailers like Miss Selfridge and Liberty were among the directors firing the questions. What we came away with was a sense that the big changes in online retailing are yet to come, because most firms are using models that were five years old and are missing all the new tricks the industry's uncovered.

Are you Twitter or Bitter? Submit your speaker questions here!
17/09/09

Next week, Netimperative’s hugely popular NetNights panelist and networking evening returns with our ‘Twitter or Bitter’ debate. Ahead of the event, we’re asking readers to submit questions they’d like to pose our expert panel.

Taking place this Wednesday 23rd September from 6pm at Graphic Bar in Golden Square, the event pitches industry experts in a no-holds-barred debate about the micro-blogging platform everyone’s talking (or tweeting) about.

In keeping with our previous NetNights, the event will feature a live commentary on Twitter which can be followed here and via the hashtag #twitterorbitter#.

Ahead of the event, readers are invited to submit questions to our expert panel by emailing Events@Netimperative.com or via Twitter using the hashtag #twitterorbitter.

Can Twitter successfully support advertising? How can brands emulate Dell’s success (rather than Habitat’s failure)? Do teens really Tweet? Send us your posers now!

News and research round-ups

01/09/9

The digital sector is expanding so fast that, quite frankly, it's impossible to cover everything. But we've decided to make a stab at it anyway by introducing two new formats giving quick summaries of news we are unable to devote whole stories to.

Our news round-up format serves up quick, one paragraph summaries to help you keep track of the latest movers and shakers in the industry. Meanwhile, our research round-up offers a digest of the myriad of data that floods our inbox every week.

We know our readers are busy folk, and we're hoping you'll find these new formats useful time-savers. Let us know what you think by emailing editor@netimperative.comeditor@netimperative.com

Discounts for members
18/8/9
We’re giving our members half price tickets for the NetNight and Sector Seminar programmes – and keeping membership at only £99 per year. As we unveil new services, more content and new events, member benefits grow: find out first, by joining, here.

Live opinion polls on the hot topics
12/8/9
As part of our new look, we've launched a series of opinion polls on Netimperative.com, giving you the chance to chance to vote on key industry issues. First in the stocks is ITV’s sale of pioneering British social media site Friends Reunited. We're asking readers whether the ITV media group destroyed the young social media brand or managed it as best they could given how tough the market was. This test for opinion polls will run for the next month on the website with a key story being polled by readers each week.

Our reader panel launches to steer our future
5/8/9
Our first ever reader panel invites you to take part in shaping the future of our website. Just what would you like to see from the publishing business over the next year and how it can help in your work? Let us know here!

New online payment system launched to make event tickets easier
30/7/9
We’re expanding our events programme too - kicking off with three great events carefully tailored to help you get some actionalble insights into current industry trends, while networking with peers. We've also developed a new transactional site, allowing you to book places online via a PayPal account. Prices start as low as £5 for members, so sign up today.
