Unscheduled downtime on DigitalStrategyConsulting.com

20 October 2007

For a few hours this afternoon, the server that relays requests to the content server on the Digital Strategy website had such a massive volume of requests, it thought it was experiencing a denial of service attack. This didn’t affect any of the online learning resources, or the other websites we run, but it did prove to be one of the most taxing challenges the network engineers had seen.

Thanks to the fast footwork of the IT teams at our web hosts, as well as some great detective work by Mark, Richard, and Ben, the site was only unobtainable for a couple of hours, but on behalf of all of our team, my apologies if you were unable to reach some of the editorial content that was affected during the period.

We do help young companies by offering a live environment for testing, and if you do notice anything odd with our sites then ping an email to TheTeam@DigitalStrategyConsulting.com and we'll look at it straight away. You'll also go into the draw for the next champion award for bright ideas.

Many thanks
