Super Saturday to be the busiest day of the year for shopper traffic on the High Street

Footfall up 20% on the daily average on Saturday 22 December, as consumers rely on click and collect, and take to the high street to finish off buying festive gifts.

Data from ShopperTrak’s National Footfall Index suggests that:

  • Super Saturday will be the busiest Christmas shopping day on the High Street, with shopper traffic up 20% on the daily average
  • Festive footfall will continue into the weekend with footfall on Sunday and Christmas Eve also up 5% on the daily average

UK shopper traffic is expected to rise by 20% on the daily average on Super Saturday (22 December), according to global retail intelligence specialist, ShopperTrak.

Super Saturday will mark the busiest day for shopper traffic on the High Street as shoppers rely on brick-and-mortar stores in a bid to finish off their Christmas shopping.

Steve Richardson, UK and MEA Director at ShopperTrak, said:  “As the last Saturday before Christmas, Super Saturday continues to see a last minute festive footfall rush. Super Saturday is expected to see a 20% increase in footfall on the daily average with Sunday and Christmas Eve anticipated to both be up by 5%. This year ‘Super Saturday’ falls on 22nd December – the last Saturday before Christmas, making it the busiest footfall day of the entire calendar year in the UK.”
