So after the biggest E-Christmas on record, what did we all do at the start of the year? Log back on and start online shopping again! This month’s edition of Digital Intelligence shows how 2007 has got off to a flying start for online advertising. In the UK, 90% of marketers are planning to spend more online this year, while on our trips to Denmark and the Netherlands, we saw similarly high growth rates and a massive leap in online adspend. There is no doubt that online adspend is set for another record-breaking year.
As expected, consumers flocked online for their Christmas shopping as both traditional brands and internet-based retailers saw their sales soar on both sides of the Atlantic. In 2007 we’re seeing a story of two firms: those who get it and those who are getting left behind.
