Facebook is adding a controversial new feature that will mean sounds play out loud on videos when they automatically start rolling as users scroll past.


The update, which some users have described as annoying, means that the accompanying sounds on videos will fade in and out if the user’s phone is on loud.
Facebook has also made a new app for viewing videos on televisions and streaming devices.
To avoid embarrassing noises emanating from your phone every time you check your newsfeed, make sure your phone is set to silent or vibrate first thing in the morning.
The sound will fade-in, so users will have a second or two to remedy the situation.
The move has already annoyed some users, with many taking to social media to vent their frustration:


Other changes to how videos play in the News Feed include larger previews of vertical videos, after what it says was a successful testing phase, Facebook will roll out this out to Android and iOS users.
Facebook is also launching a new video app for the living room on platforms such as the Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and various Samsung Smart TV’s, with the promise of more platforms being added in the future.
This means users can catch up on saved videos, as well as videos shared by your friends, as well as ‘recommended’ videos from Facebook.
