Seven years ago this week, the first tweet appeared on a then private social networking website, ‘Twittr’. The micro-blogging service has since gained an ‘E’ and 200 million users.
To mark its first 7 years, Twitter has made a video documenting the growth of its social network.

Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter, made the first tweet on March 21, 2006, with the sentence: “Just setting up my twttr”.
Since that day, or really since Twitter’s official public launch on July 15, Twitter has exploded, changing the way we interact with people on the Internet and get short bursts of information.
It has become, as Twitter itself describes it, “a global town square” – “a public place to hear the latest news, exchange ideas and connect with people all in real time.”
