Around 150,000 Gmail account holders were hit by a system glitch at the weekend which reset their accounts, losing e-mails, attachments and Google Chat logs. Google quickly acknowledged the fault, but said “less than 0.08%” of all Gmail users were affected by the bug, according to the Google App Status Dashboard. The company later said the Gmail service had been restored for some users, and resolution for all users was expected in the near future.

In an earlier message, Google wrote, “For those Gmail users reporting missing messages, our engineers are working to restore them as soon as possible.”
